Black Activities and the Law of the Land

The functioning, stability and legitimacy of the welfare state are central themes in the research carried out by the Rockwool Foundation. In this connection, in 1997 the Board of the Foundation decided to investigate the views of the Danish public on the law of the land. Furthermore, the Foundation has since its inception taken a great interest in trends in “black” work.

The analyses of the black sector began with Denmark, but since the end of the 1990s the Foundation has asked the Unit to extend its research field to include black activities in England, Norway, Sweden and Germany as well.

The Board of the Foundation has recently decided to extend the project to include the conditions of life of criminals, taking in their integration into the labour market and their use of social security benefits. The final results were published in 2008.

The Citizens and the Law of the Land

As mentioned in the general description of our research fields, the Unit is working within the research field of  "the Citizens and the Law of the Land". The project investigates views of the Danish public's law morality and what are the causes to changes in law moral. The project was published in 1998, 2001 and 2011.
